After spending a few minutes trying to console his mother and aunt, Bama and Roo started asking questions, many of which Mayhem answered.

“Let’s get Steve and Ethan on the phone to see what they learned from their end,” Roo suggested as he pulled out his cell phone and placed it in the center of the table on speaker.

“What do you know?” Steve asked rather than a greeting.

“Not much. We know where they were last seen, or at least the area. The businesses aren’t cooperating, and neither are the local police. We have a one percent MC that controls everything.”

“Hey, Bama. What’s the MC’s name? Let me see if we can find anything,” Turbo asked.

“They’re called the Silent Diablos, or just Diablos for short.”

“Who was that?” Turbo asked.

“Mayhem. She’s like you and Blaze. A hacker,” Roo replied.

“We are more than hackers, but either way, it’s nice to meet you. I’m sure we’ll be working together,” Turbo replied.

“Same here,” Mayhem replied. Either she wasn’t comfortable with people, or she was just shy. It would take more time together to know who Mayhem was, and why Goose said she left trouble and disaster in her wake. Goose was right about one thing, Bama thought. She did look like the girl next door. She could pass as a receptionist, or waitress, or anyone on the street. He wouldn’t see her and think, ‘she must be a hacker.’ Not like Turbo or Byte.

Mayhem brought the ECP team up to date, along with the various locations and issues they were running into.

“Typically, I could hack into a CCTV system, but the Diablos are careful. They have their own hacker. His handle is Override, and he’s good... better than me. You guys can try, but don’t be surprised if you can’t get through his firewalls. If I get through one, he has already set up another ten layers.”

“Can we get access to him? I have no problem getting the information up close and personal.” Bama didn’t care who he hit; he was angling for a fight.

Before that line of thought took off, Goose entered the room, looking none too pleased with himself.

“What did you find?” Roo asked.

Bama introduced the ECP team to Goose and they listened tentatively as he caught everyone up.

“We have a lead. Despite showing everyone in the area your woman’s picture, we finally had a waitress at the diner come forward when she heard the kid was missing. She has a little one at home and couldn’t imagine how scared the girl must be.”

“Did the waitress confirm that Lola and Bella were at the restaurant?” Bama asked.

“Yes. She said the two went into the ladies’ room, but she never saw them come out.”

“Did she have any idea what happened?”

“The diner is one of the club’s legitimate businesses. They were having a meeting in the back office. She thinks the girls may have opened the wrong door. Apparently the ladies’ sign had fallen off a few weeks ago, and the locals know to avoid the place, so there wasn’t any reason to fix it.
